Autostick Feature
AUTOSTICK FEATUREFor the 1999 Model Year the minivan (NS) with a 41 TE four-speed overdrive automatic transaxle will recieve a mux autostick/overdrive off switch. Located on the gear selector lever.
Autostick is a driver-interactive transaxle feature that offers manual gear shifting capability. When the shifter is moved into the Autostick position, the transaxle remains in whatever gear it was using before Autostick was activated. Moving the Autostick switch down causes a downshift, and moving it up causes an upshift. The instrument cluster will illuminate the selected gear. The vehicle can be launched in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd while in the Autostick mode. Speed control will be deactivated if the transaxle is shifted to 2nd gear. Shifting into OD position cancels the Autostick mode, and the transaxle resumes the OD shift schedule.
On NS vehicles, the 41 TE four-speed overdrive automatic transaxle includes an overdrive OFF function operated by a button on the gear selector. The overdrive off feature makes driving smoother in traffic at low and moderate speeds where overdrive is not needed or when towing. Otherwise, the transaxle may shift in and out of overdrive, causing unnecessary shifting.
NOTE: THE OVERDRIVE OFF SWITCH ON 1999 NS VEHICLES IS A MOMENTARY MUX CONTACT SWITCH.
Pushing the overdrive off button closes the switch. The TCM then locks out overdrive, pushing the button again causes the TCM to return to normal operation.
