Instrument Panel Base Trim Replacement
INSTRUMENT PANEL BASE TRIM REMOVAL AND INSTALLATIONWARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, REFER TO AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS/AIR BAGS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly in the Removal and Installation.

3. Place the instrument panel on a suitable work surface. Be certain to take the proper precautions to protect the instrument panel from any possible cosmetic damage.
4. Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Removal and Installation.

5. Remove the headlamp switch from the instrument panel. Refer to Headlamp Switch Removal and Installation.
Service and Repair
6. Remove the accessory switch plate from the instrument panel. Refer to Accessory Switch Plate Removal and Installation.

7. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel. Refer to Glove Box Removal and Installation.

8. Remove the radio from the instrument panel. Refer to Radio Removal and Installation in the Replacement of Audio Systems for the procedures.
9. Remove the speakers from the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Speaker Removal and Installation in the Replacement of Audio Systems for the procedures.
10. Remove the passenger side airbag module from the instrument panel. Refer to Passenger Side Airbag Module Removal and Installation.
11. Remove the heater and air conditioner controls from the instrument panel. Refer to Heater - A/C Control Removal and Installtion.
Service and Repair
12. Remove the heater and air conditioner ducts, outlets, and outlet housings from the instrument panel. Refer to Air Duct Service and Repair, Duct and Outlet Replacement. Service and Repair
13. Remove the screws that secure the perimeter of the base trim to the instrument panel armature.
14. Remove the base trim from the instrument panel armature.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the base trim onto the instrument panel armature.
2. Install and tighten the screws that secure the perimeter of the base trim to the instrument panel armature. Tighten the screws to 1.9 Nm (17 in. lbs.).
3. Install the heater and air conditioner ducts, outlets, and outlet housings onto the instrument panel. Refer to Ducts and Outlets Removal and Installation.
4. Install the heater and air conditioner controls onto the instrument panel. Refer to Heater-A/C Control Removal and Installation.
5. Install the passenger side airbag module onto the instrument panel. Refer to Passenger Side Airbag Module in the Replacement of Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags for the procedures.
6. Install the speakers onto the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Speaker in the Replacement of Audio Systems for the procedures.
7. Install the radio onto the instrument panel. Refer to Radio in the Replacement of Audio Systems for the procedures.
8. Install the glove box onto the instrument panel. Refer to Glove Box Removal and Installation.
9. Install the accessory switch plate onto the instrument panel. Refer to Accessory Switch Plate Removal and Installation.
10. Install the headlamp switch onto the instrument panel. Refer to Headlamp Switch Removal and Installation.
11. Install the instrument cluster onto the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster in the Replacement for the procedures.
12. Install the instrument panel into the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Removal and Installation.
13. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
