General Information
Power Steering Gear & Pump:
The power steering system consist of a steering column attached to a steering gear. The gear is mounted to the frame rail and attaches to the steering linkage. A hydraulic pump mounted to the engine supplies hydraulic fluid pressure to the power steering gear. When the steering wheel is turned the worm shaft turns which moves the rack piston. The rack piston movement turns the pitman shaft which is connected to the steering linkage by the pitman arm.
Vehicles equipped with trailer tow option have a power steering pump oil cooler. The cooler is mounted to the radiator support panel.
