Missing or Invalid VIN (Stored)
SYMPTOMMISSING OR INVALID VIN (STORED)
TEST NOTE
This symptom is diagnosed using the test CLUSTER MESSAGE MISMATCH (STORED).
WHEN MONITORED
At ignition ON the ACM will compare the PCM body style to the stored ACM body style. If the PCM message is missing or ACM cannot decode a valid body style the code will set.
SET CONDITION
At ignition ON the ACM will monitor the CCD bus for a message from the PCM containing the complete VIN. From the 7th character of the VIN the ACM will determine the body style. There are two body styles BE (number 2 or 3) and BR (6).
