Engine Lubrication

DESCRIPTION
The lubrication system is a full flow filtration pressure feed type. The trochoid type oil pump is mounted to the front of the engine block and is directly coupled to the crankshaft.

OPERATION

Fig. 7

Engine oil, stored in the oil pan, is taken in and discharged by the oil pump. Oil pressure is regulated by a relief valve located in the oil pump housing. The oil is fed through an oil filter and to the crankshaft journals from the oil gallery in the cylinder block. This gallery also feeds oil under pressure to the cylinder heads and camshaft journals. It then flows from the cylinder head passages to the rocker shafts to the rocker arm pivots and auto lash adjusters (Fig. 7).
