Clutch Cover Application

DESCRIPTION
Various sizes and designs of clutch covers are used for the different engine and transmission combinations. The currently used clutch covers and applications are listed below.

Fig. 11:

Two clutch covers are used for all applications. The 281 mm cover (Fig. 11) is used for 3.9L, 5.2L and 5.9L gas engine applications.

Fig. 12:

The 312.5 mm cover (Fig. 12), is used for 5.9L diesel and V10 gas engine applications.


OPERATION
The different sizes and designs of clutch covers are used to tune the feel of the clutch application for each drivetrain combination. The variables involved in choosing a clutch cover for a specific combination include engine torque and power, vehicle weight, and intended vehicle usage (towing versus non-towing).
