Intermittent Code
INTERMITTENT CODEA Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) that is not there every time the TCM checks the circuit or function is an "intermittent" DTC. Some intermittent DTCs such as P1721, P1767, P1768, P0725, P0600, P1784, P1734, P1781, P1733, P1732, P0750, P0755, P0760, P1770, P0765, P1737, P1793, P0715, P0720, P1794, and P1799 are caused by wiring or connector problems. However intermittent DTCs P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0736 and P1736 (Speed ratio DTC's) are usually caused by intermittent hydraulic seal leakage in the clutch and/or accumulator circuits. Intermittent speed ratio DTCs can be set by intermittent speed sensor circuitry or by line noise being induced onto one or both of the speed sensor signal circuits. Problems that come and go like this are the most difficult to diagnose, they must be looked for under the specific conditions that cause them.
