Toe Adjustment
STANDARD PROCEDURE - TOE POSITIONThe front wheel alignment angles should be set to preferred specifications. This will prevent abnormal tire tread wear.
Before each alignment reading the vehicle should be jounced (rear first, then front). Grasp each bumper at the center and jounce the vehicle up and down several times. Always release the bumper in the down position.
The wheel toe position is the final adjustment.
1. Secure the steering wheel with the front wheels in the straight- ahead position. For power steering vehicles, start the engine before straightening the wheels.
2. Loosen the tie rod adjustment sleeve clamp bolts.
3. Adjust the wheel toe position by rotating the tie rod adjustment sleeve.
4. Position the adjustment sleeve clamps so the ends are not located at the sleeve slot. Tighten the tie rod sleeve clamps to:
- LD: 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
- HD: 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
Ensure the clamp bolts are located at the underside of the sleeve.
5. Verify camber, caster and toe position.
