The Door Ajar System
The open or closed state of the doors is used by various vehicle control modules. The driver and passenger door each has an associated door ajar switch. When a vehicle door is opened, it causes its associated ajar switch to close. In Inputs/Outputs, the DRB III (R) will display the status of the associated ajar switch, not the door position. If a door is closed, and the DRB III (R) displays the ajar switch as CLOSED, it is an indication of a shorted circuit or component. If a door is open and the DRB III (R) displays OPEN, it indicates an open circuit or component.
