Step Bumper

STEP BUMPER

REMOVAL

1. Remove wire harness clip retainers and detach wire harness from step bumper.
2. Disconnect bulb sockets from each license plate lamp.
3. Support step bumper with a jack.

4. Remove nuts and bolts attaching each bumper support bracket to rear crossmember (Fig. 4).
5. Lower bumper. Remove bumper and support brackets as a unit.
6. Remove bolts attaching each support bracket to bumper. Remove brackets from bumper.
7. If equipped, remove the bumper pad.

INSTALLATION

1. Attach support brackets to rear step bumper with bolts and nuts. Tighten support bracket nuts to 40 N.m (30 ft.lbs.) torque.
2. Use a floor jack and position step bumper and support brackets at rear crossmember.
3. Align support bracket holes with holes in the crossmember. Install bracket bolts and nuts. Tighten support bracket nuts to 68 N.m (50 ft.lbs.) torque.
4. Connect license plate lamp bulb sockets to lamps. Attach wire harness to bumper with the clip retainers.
