System Description and Function Operation

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONAL OPERATION
The controller antilock brake module is used to monitor wheel speeds and modulate (control) hydraulic pressure in each brake channel. The modulated hydraulic pressure is used to prevent wheel lock up during braking. The CAB also provides a vehicle speed signal (VSS) to the powertrain control module.

TRW EBC 2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The EBC 2 is a one channel, one sensor, rear wheel antilock brake system. This system has a "passive" rear wheel control (meaning rear brake pressure during antilock braking is provided by the master cylinder). The EBC 2 uses one HCU for control of both rear brakes.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS - TRW EBC 2
^ controller antilock brake (CAB)
^ hydraulic control unit (HCU)
^ one rear wheel speed sensor and associated tone wheel
^ ABS warning indicator (amber)
^ brake warning indicator (red)
^ brake warning indicator switch
^ brake lamp switch
^ fuses and wiring

TRW EBC 325 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The EBC 325 system is a three channel, three sensor, four wheel antilock brake system. This system uses one HCU to control all four brakes during antilock braking.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS - TRW EBC 325
^ controller antilock brake (CAB)
^ hydraulic control unit (HCU)
^ three wheel speed sensors with associated tone wheels (two front, one rear)
^ ABS warning indicator (amber)
^ brake warning indicator (red)
^ brake warning indicator switch
^ brake lamp switch
^ fuses and wiring
