Cylinder Head Assembly

CYLINDER HEAD SPECIFICATIONS
Height of Cylinder Head (1), With Out Camshaft Housing 126.85 mm to 127.15 mm
Valve Set Back (2) With New Valves and New Valve Seat Rings
Exhaust Valve: 1.0 mm - 1.4 mm
Intake Valve: 1.1 mm - 1.5 mm





NOTE: Inspect all cylinder head bolts for defects and stretching before installation.

CYLINDER HEAD BOLT TORQUE SEQUENCE
The M12 cylinder head bolts must be torqued in 3 stages.
Install M12 cylinder head bolts finger tight.
In numeric order starting with number 1
Torque bolts to 60 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
Install M8 timing chain cover to cylinder head bolts.
Tighten to 20 Nm (177 inch lbs.).
In numeric order starting with number 1
Tighten M12 cylinder head bolts an additional 90°
In numeric order starting with number 1
Tighten M12 cylinder head bolts an additional 90° again (3 stages).




Intake manifold
Tighten manifold bolts to 16 Nm (142 inch lbs.)
Do this in a cross directional pattern beginning with the middle bolts and tightening outward to the ends.

Install the rear intake manifold bolts
Tighten to 16 Nm (142 inch lbs.)





Exhaust Manifold

NOTE: Exhaust manifold surface must be flat within 0.006 inch per foot (0.15 mm per 300 mm) of manifold length.

Install new exhaust manifold gasket. Position the exhaust manifold over to studs
Tighten retaining nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).

Camshaft Sprocket bolts

NOTE: Do Not use old camshaft sprocket bolts.

Fit camshaft sprocket with timing chain fitted on, onto exhaust camshaft paying attention to position of dowel pin.
Tighten bolt to 18 Nm (159 inch lbs.).

Camshaft Bearing Caps

CAUTION: Install camshafts so that the two holes in camshaft sprockets are positioned opposite and the markings of the camshaft and camshaft bearing cap are aligned.

NOTE: Pay attention to markings on camshaft bearing caps.

Install the bearing caps in reverse order at the same point.
Tighten bearing cap bolts evenly to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.)
in steps each of 1 turn.

Cylinder Head
8m-Bolt- Cylinder Head to Timing Case Cover 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Bolt - Front Cover to Cylinder Head 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.)
12m-Bolt-Cylinder Head to Crankcase
(3 stages, torque, torque angle, torque angle) 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.), plus 90°, plus an additional 90°

Flywheel, Driven Plate, Vibration Damper, Starter Ring Gear
8.8m-Bolt-Central Bolt of Vibration Damper
(2 stage, 1 torque, 2 torque angle) 200 Nm (147.5 ft. lbs.), plus 90°
10.9m- Bolt-Central Bolt of Vibration Damper
(2 stage, 1 torque, 2 torque angle) 325 Nm (240 ft. lbs.), plus 90°
Bolt- Stretch Shank for Flywheel or 2 Mass Flywheel to Crankshaft
(2 stage, 1 torque, 2 torque angle) 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.), plus 90°
