A/C Liquid Hose/Line Replacement
REMOVALWARNING: REVIEW THE WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS IN THE FRONT BEFORE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING OPERATION.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
3. Remove the engine air filter housing from the right inner fenderwell.
4. If equipped, remove the vehicle speed control servo from the right inner fenderwell and position the servo out of the way.
5. Remove the four push-pin retainers that secure the radiator and condenser air seal to the right side radiator support and remove the air seal from the engine compartment.
A/C Liquid Line - 3.7L Shown, 4.7L Typical:
6. Remove the nut that secures the liquid line fitting to the condenser outlet port.
7. Disconnect the liquid line from the condenser.
8. Remove the seal from the liquid line fitting and discard.
9. Install plugs in, or tape over the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port.
10. Remove the liquid line from the retaining clip on the inner fenderwell.
11. Remove the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler that secures the liquid line to the evaporator inlet tube.
12. Using the proper A/C line disconnect tool, disconnect the liquid line from the evaporator inlet tube.
13. Remove the O-ring seal from the liquid fitting and discard.
14. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened liquid fitting and the evaporator inlet tube.
15. Remove the liquid line from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the liquid line into the engine compartment.
2. Remove the tape or plugs from the liquid line spring-lock coupler fitting and the evaporator inlet tube.
3. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it on the liquid line fitting. Use only the specified O-ring as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
4. Connect the liquid line to the evaporator inlet tube.
5. Install the secondary retaining clip onto the spring-lock coupler that secures the liquid line to the evaporator inlet tube.
6. Install the liquid line into the retaining clip on the right inner fenderwell.
7. Remove the tape or plugs from the liquid line fitting and condenser outlet port.
8. Lubricate a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it on the liquid line fitting. Use only the specified O-ring as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
9. Connect the liquid line to the condenser outlet port.
10. Install the nut that secures the liquid line fitting to the condenser outlet port. Tighten the nut to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
11. Position the radiator and condenser air seal to the right side radiator support and install the four push-pin retainers.
12. If equipped, install the vehicle speed control servo to right inner fenderwell.
13. Install the engine air filter housing.
14. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
15. Evacuate the refrigerant system.
16. Charge the refrigerant system.
