SUBJECT:
Flash: MIL Illumination Due To DTC P1776 - Solenoid Switch Valve Latched In LR Position
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2004 (AN) Dakota
2004 (HB) Durango
2004 (KJ) Liberty / Cherokee
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and 42RLE transmission (sales code EKG and DG6 respectively).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination.
Further diagnosis may reveal that the MIL is due to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1776 - Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in LR Position.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (DRBIII(R) or StarSCAN(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
NOTE:
There are two separate Repair Procedures. One for DRBIII(R) vehicles and one for StarSCAN(R) vehicles.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE USING DRBIII(R) AND DOWNLOADING THE FLASH FILE FROM DealerCONNECT > Tech TOOLS:
