Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair

WHEEL CYLINDERS

REMOVAL





1. Remove wheel and tire assembly
2. Remove brake drum.
3. Remove brake shoe return spring (3) and move shoes out of engagement with cylinder (1).





4. Disconnect wheel cylinder brake line (4).
5. Remove cylinder (2) attaching bolts (3) and remove cylinder from support plate (1).

INSTALLATION





1. Install cylinder (2) and the mounting bolts (3) and tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
2. Connect brake line (4) to cylinder (2).





3. Install brake shoe return spring (3).
4. Install brake drum.
5. Install wheel and tire assembly.
6. Bleed base brake system.
