B194F-POWER LIFTGATE TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE

B194F - Power Liftgate Temperature Sensor Circuit Performance:

WHEN MONITORED
Whenever the Power Liftgate is awake.

SET CONDITION
The power liftgate module has detected the temperature it senses does not agree with the temperature that the powertrain control module is sensing.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Ambient temperature DTC
- (Q78) Right pinch sensor signal wire open
- (Q78) Right pinch sensor signal wire short to ground
- (Q901) Logic ground open
- Temperature sensor out of range
- Power liftgate module

Diagnostic Test

1. DTC PRESENT

With the scan tool, record DTC's and any liftgate inhibitors.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Q: Does the scan tool display B194F-POWER LIFTGATE TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE?

YES: Go To 2
NO: Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

2. PINCH SENSOR DTC

With the scan tool, read other Power Liftgate DTC's.

Q: Are there any other Pinch Sensor DTC's?

YES: Repair the other pinch sensor code(s) before proceeding.
NO: Go To 3

3. TEMPERATURE SENSOR

NOTE: The vehicle must be in a warn environment of approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit for the results of this next step to be valid.

Turn the ignition off.
Turn all vehicle lights off.
Open the liftgate.
Allow the vehicle to stabilize in the warm environment for at least one hour.
Disconnect the Right Liftgate Pinch/Temp Sensor connector.
Measure the resistance between the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit and the (Q78) Right Pinch Sensor Signal circuit in the Right Pinch/Temp Sensor (component side) connector.

NOTE: Graphic shows the harness side - component side is the mate connector.

Q: Is the resistance between 11300 and 13700 ohms?

YES: Replace the Power Liftgate Module.
NO: Go To 4

4. (Q78) RIGHT PINCH SENSOR SIGNAL WIRE OPEN

Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C2 connector.
Measure the resistance of the Right Pinch Sensor Signal circuit between the Power Liftgate Module C2 connector and the Right Pinch/Temp Sensor connector.

Q: Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

YES: Go To 5
NO: Repair the (Q78) Right Pinch/Temp Sensor Signal wire for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

5. (Q78) RIGHT PINCH SENSOR SIGNAL WIRE SHORT TO GROUND

Measure the resistance between ground and the (Q78) Right Liftgate Pinch/Temp Sensor Signal circuit.

Q: Is the resistance below 10000.0 ohms?

NO: Go To 6. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
YES: Repair the (Q78) Right Liftgate Pinch/Temp Sensor Signal wire for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test

6. (Q901) LOGIC GROUND OPEN

Measure the resistance of the (Q901) Logic Ground circuit between the Right Liftgate Pinch/Temp Sensor connector and the PLG C2 connector.

Q: Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?

YES: Replace the Power Liftgate Module. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Repair the (Q901) Logic Ground wire for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
