B1958-POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT LOWB1958 - Power Liftgate Drive Clutch Control Circuit Low:
WHEN MONITORED
Whenever the Power Liftgate is power opening or closing.
SET CONDITION
The power liftgate module has detected the clutch driver circuit current is over five amps.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- (Q201) Liftgate clutch driver circuit short to ground
- Power liftgate drive unit
- Power liftgate module
Diagnostic Test
1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, record DTC's and any liftgate inhibitors.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Operate the liftgate several times.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Q: Does the scan tool display B1958-POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
YES: Go To 2
NO: Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
2. POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE UNIT
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Drive Unit connector Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Q: Does the scan tool display B1958-POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
YES: Go To 3
NO: Replace the Power Liftgate Drive Unit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
3. (Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C1 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit.
Q: Is the resistance below 10000.0 ohms?
NO: Replace the Power Liftgate Module. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
YES: Repair the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
