B1959-POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGHB1959 - Power Liftgate Drive Clutch Control Circuit High:
WHEN MONITORED
Whenever the Power Liftgate is power opening or closing.
SET CONDITION
The power liftgate module has detected the clutch driver circuit current is under 0.5 amps.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- (Q201) Liftgate clutch driver circuit short to voltage
- (Q201) Liftgate clutch driver circuit open
- (Z918) Ground open
- Power liftgate drive unit
- Power liftgate module
Diagnostic Test
1. DTC PRESENT
With the scan tool, record DTC's and any liftgate inhibitors.
Erase DTC's
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
Operate the liftgate several times.
With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Q: Does the scan tool display B1959-POWER LIFTGATE DRIVE CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH?
YES: Go To 2
NO: Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
2. (Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Module C1 connector
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit between the PLG C1 connector and ground.
Q: Is there any voltage present?
NO: Go To 3
YES: Repair the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit for a short to voltage. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
3. POWER LIFTGATE MODULE
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit.
Q: Is the resistance approximately 8.0 ohms?
YES: Replace the Power Liftgate Module. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Go To 4
4. (Q201) LIFTGATE CLUTCH DRIVER CIRCUIT OPEN
Disconnect the Power Liftgate Drive Unit connector
Measure the resistance of the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit between the PLG C1 connector and Drive Unit connector.
Q: Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?
YES: Go To 5
NO: Repair the (Q201) Liftgate Clutch Driver circuit for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
5. (Z918) GROUND OPEN
Turn all lights off.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z918) Ground circuit in Drive Unit connector.
Q: Is the resistance below 2.0 ohms?
YES: Replace the Drive Unit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
NO: Repair the (Z918) Ground circuit for an open. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Body Verification Test
