C107C - BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH 1/2 STUCK
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
When the Anti-Lock Brake Module indicates that the Brake Pressure Sensor Signal or Brake Switch is irrational.
1. BRAKE SIGNAL
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, monitor the Brake Signal while pressing and releasing the brake pedal several times.
Does the Brake Signal states change appropriately as the pedal is pressed and released?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the appropriate brake switch diagnostic procedure.
2. CHECK BRAKE PRESSURE FOR HIGH SIGNAL
1. Start the engine.
2. Brake not applied.
3. With the scan tool look at Pressure Sensor Signal.
Is the Brake Pressure above 80 bar (1160 psi)?
Yes
Replace the Hydraulic Control Unit in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Go To 3
3. CHECK BRAKE PRESSURE FOR LOW SIGNAL
1. Engine running.
2. Brake not applied.
Is the Brake Pressure below 10 bar (145 psi)?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Go To 4
4. HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT
1. Remove the Brake Switch.
Is the Brake Pressure below 10 bar (145 psi)?
Yes
- Readjust or replace the Brake Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Check for possible obstruction holding brake pedal in applied state. Repair as necessary if no obstruction replace Hydraulic Control Unit in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
5. BRAKE SWITCH MISADJUSTED
1. Slowly apply pressure to the brake pedal while monitoring Pressure Sensor Signal on the scan tool.
Does the Pressure Signal reach 10 bar (145 psi) before the brake lamps come on?
Yes
- Readjust or replace the Brake Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.
