Chime

CHIME

DESCRIPTION

Vehicles equipped with a power liftgate utilize a chime (3). The chime (3) is a small cylindrical shaped electrical component mounted on the upper liftgate assembly (1) under the upper trim panel. The chime produces the audible chime sound heard at the rear of the vehicle at the start of a power cycle.

The chime cannot be adjusted or repaired and if damaged or inoperative must be replaced.

OPERATION
The chime function is activated by a hardwired connection to the power liftgate control module. During a power liftgate "open/close" cycle the power liftgate control module signals the chime to sound.
