If the travel exceeds 0.5 mm (0.020 inch), replace the lower ball joint.
Front-Upper Ball Joint Wear Limit
If the travel exceeds 0.5 mm (0.020 inch), replace the upper control arm since the upper ball joint is integral to the arm.
