Outside Rearview Mirror Glass - Installation

INSTALLATION

WARNING: Always wear eye and hand protection when servicing the mirror assembly. Failure to observe these warnings may result in personal injury from broken glass.


NOTE: The mirrors glass come in two types, type one the mirror glass and frame has to be pried upward to be removed, and type two the mirror glass and frame has to be pulled (pried) outward. To tell the difference one mirror glass and frame is thicker than the other.


TYPE ONE

1. Connect the mirror electrical connectors and terminals on the mirror glass frame, if equipped (Figure 1).

2. Place mirror glass and frame into position in the mirror assembly (Figure 2).

3. Align the mirror glass and frame locking tabs to the mirror motor housing.

4. Using a trim stick or equivalent, firmly press the mirror glass and frame downward to lock into place while at the same time supporting the housing assembly from the backside with the other hand (Figure 3).

5. Verify retention of the mirror glass holder assembly by gently pulling outward on the mirror glass and frame.


TYPE TWO

1. Connect the mirror electrical connectors and terminals on the mirror glass frame, if equipped (Figure 4).

2. Place mirror glass and frame into position in the mirror assembly (Figure 5).

3. Align the mirror glass and frame locking tabs to the mirror motor housing.


NOTE: Pressure must be applied equally over the center portion of the mirror to engage the mirror glass holder's attaching fingers to the corresponding fingers on the housing assembly. One or more clicks may be heard when finger engagement takes place.

4. Press firmly onto the mirror glass and frame to lock into place while at the same time supporting the housing assembly from the backside with the other hand (Figure 6).

5. Verify retention of the mirror glass holder assembly by gently pulling outward on the mirror glass and frame.
