Removal






REMOVAL




1. Make sure the crankshaft is at 40� ATDC.




2. Install the crankshaft locking tool (1).




3. Remove the crankshaft damper bolt (4).
4. Remove the crankshaft damper (3).




5. Disconnect the camshaft position sensors on the left cylinder head.
6. Disconnect the camshaft position sensors on the right cylinder head.
7. Remove the left cylinder head cover.
8. Remove the right cylinder head cover.




9. Remove the front cover.




10. Remove the timing chain tensioner.




11. Use a slide hammer to remove the slide rail pins in the left cylinder head.
12. Use a slide hammer to remove the slide rail pins in the right cylinder head.
13. Remove the oil pump chain.
14. Remove the timing chain slide rails (1).




15. Insert a drift (3) into left camshaft adjuster.
16. Insert a drift into the right camshaft adjuster.
17. Remove the camshaft adjuster from the left cylinder head.
18. Remove the camshaft adjuster from the right cylinder head.




19. Disconnect the timing chain links.
20. Remove the timing chain.
