Cylinder Head Surface VariationCAUTION: The cylinder head, crankcase and timing case cover must not be post-worked (face grinding) because production tolerances must not be exceeded.
Cylinder Head Bolts
Install the cylinder head to timing case bolts and tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) and then an additional 90 degrees.
Install the remaining cylinder head bolts and use a spiral pattern to tighten in five stages:
Stage 1 20 Nm (177 in. lbs.)
Stage 2 40 Nm (354 in. lbs.)
Stage 3 40 Nm (354 in. lbs)
Stage 4 90 degrees
Stage 5 90 degrees
Centrifuge to camshaft sprocket
Stage 1 6 nm 53 in. lbs.
Stage 2 90 degrees
Install the exhaust manifold bolts. Torque the exhaust manifold bolts to 11 Nm (98 lbs. in.).
