Headlamp: Adjustments






FRONT LAMP AIMING

VEHICLE PREPARATION FOR LAMP ALIGNMENT

1. Check for and correct any burnt out bulbs.
2. If the vehicle is equipped with standard halogen headlamps, be certain that the headlamp leveling switch is in the 0 position. If the vehicle is equipped with optional xenon headlamps, use a diagnostic scan tool to confirm the headlamp leveling motors are in the 0 position.
3. Repair or replace any ineffective, worn or damaged body or suspension components that could hinder proper lamp alignment.
4. Verify proper tire inflation pressures.
5. Remove any accumulations of mud, snow or ice from the vehicle underbody and clean the front lamp unit lenses.
6. Verify that there is no load in the vehicle (cargo or passengers). Vehicle should be at or near curb weight.
7. The fuel tank should be FULL. Add 2.94 kilograms (6.5 pounds) of weight over the fuel tank for each estimated gallon of missing fuel.
8. Load the driver's seat with 75 kilograms (165 pounds) of weight.

FRONT LAMP UNIT ALIGNMENT




1. Position the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn ON the headlamp low beams.
3. Open the hood.
4. Set up a headlamp adjustment tester according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the unit.
5. Adjust the front lamp unit reflector by turning the horizontal (1) and vertical (2) adjustment screws in or out as required.




6. When properly aligned, the low beam headlamps should provide a cutoff pattern as shown.

FOG LAMP ALIGNMENT

NOTE: The front fog lamps in this vehicle feature a fixed mounting and are NOT adjustable.
