HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 12.01 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

Flash: MIL Illumination P050D Or P2181 Is Set
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves flash reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.
MODELS:
2008 (D1) RAM 3500 Pickup
2008 (DC) RAM 3500 CAB Chassis
2008 (DR) RAM 1500 Pickup
2008 (HB) Durango
2008 (HG) Aspen
2008 (ND) Dakota
2008 (WK) Grand Cherokee
2008 (XK) Commander
NOTE:
This Service Bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 3.7L or 4.7L or 5.7L (sales code EKG, EVE, EZA or EZB).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may complain of MIL illumination. No other symptoms will be noted or experienced. Further investigation by the technician may find the following DTC's set;
I. P05OD (4.7L Engines Only)
II. P2181 (All Engines)
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH(TM)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify no DTC's are set. If DTC's are present other then the ones listed above record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the customer describes the symptom or if the technician finds the DIG, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TECHCONNECT, Refer To 8 - Electrical/Electronic Control Modules/Powertrain Control Module - Standard Procedure PCM/ECM Programming.
2. After PCM reprogramming, Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
3. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" and attach it near the VECI label.
