B1183-REAR RIGHT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN





For a complete wiring diagram REFER to DIAGRAMS/ELECTRICAL .


- When Monitored:
With the ignition on, during heated seat operation.

- Set Condition:
The Heated Seat Module (HSM) detects an open or high voltage condition.






Diagnostic Test


1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, clear all DTC's.
Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display active: B1183-REAR RIGHT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN?

Yes


- Go To 2


No


- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Vehicles equipped with 2nd row heated seats and the Swivel 'N Go(R) Seating System inspect seat contacts and related wiring for damage. Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test


2. (P178) RIGHT REAR SEAT HEATER B(+) DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Turn the ignition off.

NOTE: Vehicles equipped with 2nd row heated seats and the Swivel 'N Go(R) Seating System inspect seat contacts and related wiring for damage. Repair as necessary.

Disconnect the right 2nd row seat assembly C394 2 - way harness connector.
Disconnect the Heated Seat Module harness connector.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

Measure the resistance of the (P178) Right Rear Seat Heater B(+) Driver circuit between the Heated Seat Module harness connector and the right 2nd row seat assembly C394 2 - way harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10k ohms?

Yes


- Go To 3


No


- Repair the (P178) Right Rear Seat Heater B(+) Driver circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test


3. (P178) RIGHT REAR SEAT HEATER B(+) DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage on the (P178) Right Rear Seat Heater B(+) Driver circuit.
Is there any voltage present?

Yes


- Repair the (P178) Right Rear Seat Heater B(+) Driver circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test


No


- Go To 4


4. (Z909) SEAT HEATER GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z910) Seat Heater Ground circuit at the right 2nd row seat assembly C394 2 - way harness connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes


- Go To 5


No


- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z910) Seat Heater ground circuit.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test


5. HEATED SEAT MODULE
Reconnect the HSM harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Connect a test light between the (Z910) Seat Heater ground circuit and the (P178) Right Rear Seat Heater B(+) Driver circuit at the right 2nd row seat assembly C394 2 - way harness connector.
Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.
Does the test light illuminate brightly when the switch is on?

Yes


- Replace the heater element.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test


No


- Replace the Heated Seat Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Body Verification Test
