Engine - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. Align the front right Engine Cradle Post (2) with the Lift Point Hole in the Engine Block.
2. Align the front left Engine Cradle Post and 8130 Support Bracket (1) with the Lift Point Hole in the Engine Block.




3. Install safety straps so that they securely hold the engine assembly in the engine cradle. Tighten the fasteners at the base of each engine cradle post, and verify that the engine cradle posts are engaged in the lifting points.
4. Install the transaxle to the engine assembly, and install the upper transaxle bolts. Tighten to
5. Position the powertrain assembly below vehicle body, and carefully lower the vehicle body onto the powertrain assembly.




6. Install the left side transaxle mount bolts (2) along with the heater tube bracket nut. Tighten transaxle mount bolts to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).




7. Install the right engine mount-to-engine fasteners (1). Tighten to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).




8. Install the Oil Dipstick Tube, and install Oil Dipstick Tube Bolt (1).




9. Install the Rear Maniverter (2).Exhaust Manifold - Removal.
10. Reconnect the Shift Cable to the Bracket.




11. Reconnect the Shift Cable (1) to the Transaxle Manual Valve Lever (2).




12. Reconnect oil cooler lines (1) to the transaxle.Transmission Oil Cooler Lines




13. Install the Front Heater Line Bracket retainer (1).




14. Install the Heater Hose Brackets and Retainers (2) to the Transaxle Bellhousing and the Left Engine Mount.




15. Reconnect the Harness Retainer (1) to the Transaxle Shifter Bracket.




16. Install the Crossmember (3), the four rear crossmember bolts (1), and the front crossmember bolt (2). Tighten the front crossmember bolt (2) to 108 Nm (80 lb-ft). Tighten the four rear crossmember bolts (1) to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs).




17. Install the rear transaxle mount bracket bolts (1). Tighten to 102 Nm (75 ft/lbs).




18. Install the Front Engine Mount Through Bolt (1). Tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).



Install the rear transaxle mount through bolt (3). Tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
19. Install the rear Engine Mount Heat Shield (2), and the fasteners (1). Tighten fasteners to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs).




20. If the driveplate has a tight-tolerance (slotted) bolt hole that was marked during removal, realign with the marked hole on the driveplate, then install the torque converter-to-driveplate bolts (1). Tighten the torque converter-to-driveplate bolts to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.)




21. Install the Torque Converter Access Cover (2).




22. Install the Cross-under Pipe Bracket (4). Tighten bolts to 28 Nm (250 in.-lbs.).

24. Reconnect the engine oil cooler line (7) to the engine oil cooler.
25. Install the cross-under pipe.Exhaust Manifold - Installation.




26. Reconnect the PCM harness connector (2) and the inline harness connector (1).




27. Reconnect the output speed sensor harness connectors (1) and (2).




28. Reconnect the transaxle solenoid pack harness connector (1) and the ground strap bolt (2).




29. Reconnect the input shaft speed sensor harness connector (1), the crankshaft position sensor harness connector (2), the downstream O2 sensor harness connector (3), and the upstream O2 sensor harness connector (4).




30. Install the A/C compressor and mounting studs.A/C Compressor - Installation.




31. Reconnect the EVAP purge line (1), the makeup air hose (3), and the ETC harness connector (2) from the ETC.




32. Reconnect the fuel supply line (1) at the fuel rail (2).




33. Install the lower radiator hose (2).




34. Reinstall the power steering pump (2).




35. Reinstall the harness retainer (1) to the power steering pump.




36. Reconnect the EVAP purge solenoid harness connector (1) and the A/C pressure transducer harness connector (2).




37. Install the power steering line bracket retainers (1) and (2).




38. Install the generator (1).




39. Reinstall the accessory drive belt (1).
40. Reinstall the cooling fan assembly.




41. Reconnect the cooling fan harness connectors (1) and (2).




42. Install the air filter housing (6).




43. Install the coolant overflow bottle (2), and reconnect the coolant overflow Line (1) at the radiator fill cap.
44. Refill the cooling system.




45. Reconnect the harness retainer (2), install the three battery tray fasteners, and install the battery tray (1).




46. Reconnect the positive (1) and negative (3) battery cables.
47. Start the engine, and inspect for leaks. Verify engine is operating normally.
48. Install the wheelhouse front and both side splash shields.




49. Install the engine cover.
