NOTE: The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) module is sometimes referred to as Electronic Overhead Module (EOM) for the purposes of scan tool and diagnostic information naming. Please treat the EVIC and EOM as one and the same when diagnosing the vehicle.
The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) is located in the overhead console and consists of the following components:
- HomeLink(R) transceiver (3) - if equipped
- Vacuum-Fluorescent Display (VFD) (6)
- Push button function switches (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5)
- Replaceable light bulbs to illuminate the push button function switches
This system conveniently allows the driver to select a variety of useful information by pressing the function buttons. The EVIC displays information related to the following:
- System Status
- Vehicle information warning message displays
- Tire Pressure Monitor System - If Equipped
- Personal Settings (customer programmable features)
- Compass display
- Outside temperature display
- Trip computer functions
The EVIC system is comprised of several different components. Those components are:
- Instrument Cluster (also known as Cab Compartment Node (CCN))
- Ambient Temperature Sensor
- EVIC Module
- Controller Area Network (CAN) Data Bus circuit
The individual components of the EVIC module are not serviced separately and if damaged or inoperative, must be replaced as a unit.
