Disassembly- Part 2
CAUTION: Tag all snap rings, thrust washers, washers, spacers and thrust bearings, etc. during disassembly for quick identification and assembly. Failure to follow these instructions will damage and cause transmission failure.
31. Remove the front sun / PTO drive gear.
FRONT SUN / PTO REAR THRUST BEARING No. 5
32. Remove the front sun/PTO rear thrust bearing number five.
CARRIER SNAP RING
NOTE: The beveled edge of the snap ring is facing outward.
33. Remove the snap ring from the transmission case.
P1 CARRIER BOLTS
34. Remove the two bolts (1) securing the P1 carrier to the transmission case.
P1 CARRIER REMOVAL
35. Remove the P1 carrier using tool C-3752 and adapters 9980.
P1 THRUST BEARING No. 6
36. Remove the P1 thrust bearing number six.
P1 ANNULUS GEAR
37. Remove the P1 annulus gear and thrust bearing.
P1 ANNULUS THRUST WASHER NO. 7
38. Remove the P1 annulus thrust bearing number seven.
K3 CLUTCH
39. Remove the K3 clutch assembly.
K3 HUB REAR THRUST BEARING No. 8
40. Remove the K3 hub rear thrust bearing number eight.
K3 SUPPORT SEAL RINGS
41. Remove the K3 support seal rings if necessary.
EXTENSION HOUSING
42. Remove the bolts securing the 2WD or the 4WD extension housing to the transmission case and remove the housing.
B2 PISTON COMPRESS
43. Install tools 8622 (1), 9982-2 (3), MD 991790 (2) onto the B2 clutch piston assembly in the extension housing and compress the piston.
B2 SNAP RING
44. Remove the B2 piston snap ring (1).
B2 RETURN SPRING
45. Remove the B2 piston return spring assembly.
B2 PISTON
46. Remove the B2 piston.
WASHER AND SPACER
47. Remove the output shaft end play selectable washer (1) and the spacer (2)
OUTPUT SHAFT LOCK GEAR
NOTE: On 4WD models remove the snap ring from the output shaft in order to remove the output shaft park lock gear from the 4WD extension housing.
48. Remove the output shaft and the park lock gear.
F1 CLUTCH THRUST BEARING NO. 14
49. Remove the F1 clutch thrust bearing number fourteen.
ONE WAY CLUTCH SNAP RING
50. Remove the F1 one way clutch rear snap ring.
ONE WAY CLUTCH
51. Scribe the orientation of the F1 one way clutch to the transmission case.
52. Remove the F1 one way clutch and front snap ring.
PARK PAWL 1
53. Remove the park pawl assembly from the transmission case.
P3 ANNULUS GEAR
54. Remove the P3 annulus gear.
THRUST WASHER AND SPACER NO. 13
55. Remove the thrust bearing and washer number thirteen.
P3 PLANETARY CARRIER
NOTE: Be certain that the P3 carrier thrust bearing race is in position while removing the P3 carrier.
56. Remove the P3 planetary gear carrier.
P3 PLANETARY FRONT THRUST BEARING NO. 12
57. Remove the P3 planetary gear carrier front thrust bearing number twelve.
SUN GEAR SHAFT
58. Remove the sun gear shaft (1) thrust bearing number eleven (2) and thrust bearing race / washer (3).
NOTE: The selectable clutch pack reaction plates are identified by an alpha numeric numeral stamped into the face of the plate.
59. Remove the snap ring and B2 brake clutch assembly.
P2 PLANETARY CARRIER
60. Remove the P2 planetary gear carrier.
P2 PLANETARY GEAR THRUST BEARING N0. 10
61. Remove the P2 planetary gear thrust bearing number ten.
P2 PLANETARY ANNULUS GEAR
62. Remove the P2 planetary annulus gear.
P2 ANNULUS GEAR BEARING N0. 9
63. Remove the P2 planetary annulus gear thrust bearing number nine.
TWO SNAP RINGS
64. Remove the two snap rings (1).
B1 CLUTCHES
NOTE: The selectable clutch pack reaction plates are identified by an alpha numeric numeral stamped onto the face of the plate.
65. Remove the B1 brake clutch assembly.
B1 PISTON COMPRESS
66. Install tools 8622, 9982 and MB 991790, onto the B1 brake piston assembly and compress the piston.
67. Remove the B1 brake piston snap ring and the B1 piston return spring assembly.
B1 PISTON GROOVE
NOTE: The orientation of the groove on the B1 piston is at the 12:00 o'clock position to the transmission case.
68. Remove the B1 brake piston.
