Knock Sensor - Removal

The two knock sensors (1) are bolted into the cylinder block under the intake manifold.


1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove intake manifold. Service and Repair
3. Remove sensor mounting bolt. Do not apply any adhesive, sealant or thread locking compound to these bolts.






RIGHT SIDE

1. Disconnect the right side knock sensor electrical connector (3) from engine wiring harness.
2. Remove the knock sensor.



LEFT SIDE

NOTE: The left bank knock sensor connector is located on the transmission housing. Lowering the transmission will aid in gaining access to the connector.


1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Support the transmission with a suitable jack stand.






3. Remove the transmission crossmember.
4. Lower the transmission.






5. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector (1) from the lowering wiring harness connector (2).
6. Remove the knock sensor from engine.
