THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES SERVICE BULLETIN 19-001-10, DATED JANUARY 20, 2010, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES.

SUBJECT:
Power Steering Return Lines

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves removing and replacing the gear to cooler power steering return hose with a kevlar braided return hose.

MODELS:

2008-2010 (RI) Grand Caravan/ Town and Country

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to all vehicles built since June 18th, 2007 and before November 22nd, 2010 (MDH1122XX).

NOTE:
This only applies to vehicles which are exposed to extreme cold temperatures below -40°C(-40° F).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Customer may experience leaks in power steering return line, at cold start up in temperatures below -40°C(-40°F) and increased steering efforts or noisy power steering pump.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the above condition is present and determined, perform the Repair Procedure.








PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE -

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to the detailed procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > Hoisting > Standard Procedure > Hoisting.

2. Remove the Gear to Cooler Power Steering Return Hose. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 19-Steering > Pump > HOSE, Power Steering, Return > Removal > Gear to Cooler.

3. Install the Gear to Cooler Power Steering Return Hose. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT under: Service Info > 19-Steering > Pump > HOSE, Power Steering, Return > Installation > Gear to Cooler.





4. When installing the power steering return hose route carefully between power steering line, TOC lines and the battery tray bolt due to minimal clearances (Fig 1).

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
