B1B97-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CONFIGURATION MISMATCH

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information. Electrical Diagrams

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) sends a test current to the seat track position sensors. During this test, the sensors discovered are checked for agreement with the pre-programmed configuration of components assigned to the module.

- When Monitored:
The ORC checks for the presence of seat position circuits once during the initialization process.

- Set Condition:
This DTC sets when the ORC detects the presence of a seat position sensor circuit while the configuration of the module does not reflect a seat track position sensor should be present. Once set, this DTC is latched for the entire ignition cycle.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Restraints System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.

1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

Is the DTC active or stored?

ORC - ACTIVE DTC

- Go To 2

ORC - STORED DTC

- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Restraints System Intermittent Condition Test.

2. CHECK UNUSED SEAT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE, SHORT TO GROUND, OR SHORT TOGETHER
1. Check any unused Seat Position Sensor circuits for possible short to voltage.
2. Check any unused Seat Position Sensor circuits for possible short to ground.
3. Check any unused Seat Position Sensor circuits for possible short together.

Are any of the unused Seat Position circuits shorted?

Yes

- WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

- Repair any unused Seat Position Sensor circuits that are shorted.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Restraints System Intermittent Condition Test.

No

- NOTE: Make sure the part number of the replacement module is the correct part number for the vehicle.
- WARNING: If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the ORC.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Restraints System Verification Test.
