Liftgate - Installation

INSTALLATION





1. With assistance, carefully position the liftgate (3) to the vehicle and loosely install the two bolts (1) that secure each hinge (4) to the liftgate.
2. Align the hinges to the marks on the liftgate and tighten the retaining bolts to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
3. Support the liftgate with a suitable lifting device in the full open position.
4. Connect the liftgate support cylinders (5) to the liftgate pivots.
5. Remove the lifting device and tape from the liftgate and liftgate opening.
6. If equipped, connect the power liftgate motor link rod to the liftgate pivot. Power Liftgate Link Rod - Installation.
7. Route the body wire harness through the hole in the liftgate and engage the grommet (9).
8. Connect the liftgate wire harness connectors (2) to the body wire harness.
9. Route the rear wiper washer hose (8) through the hole in the rear header panel (6) and engage the grommet.
10. Connect the rear wiper washer hose to the connector (7).
11. Install the rear header trim panel. Rear Header Panel - Installation.
12. Install battery negative cable.
13. Verify liftgate alignment. The liftgate should have the specified gap to the adjacent panels and fit flush across the gaps. Refer to the Liftgate Gap Specifications chart.
