Hinge - Removal
REMOVAL
NOTE: To protect the vehicle finish, apply several layers of masking tape on the top edges of the liftgate and around the liftgate opening prior to loosening the hinges.
1. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the installed position of each liftgate hinge (2) in relationship to the liftgate (3) and to the rear header panel (6).
2. Remove the rear header trim panel. Rear Header Panel - Removal.
3. Apply several layers of duct tape on the outside of roof across the gap onto the liftgate to hold the liftgate in position.
4. Support the liftgate with a suitable lifting device in the full open position.
5. Remove the two bolts (1) that secure each liftgate hinge to the liftgate as necessary.
6. Remove the two nuts (4 and 5) from underneath the rear header panel that secure each liftgate hinge to the header panel and carefully remove the hinges as necessary.
