A/C Liquid Line - Removal






REMOVAL

WARNING: Review safety precautions and warnings before performing this procedure Warning and Caution. Failure to follow the warnings and cautions may result in serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: The A/C liquid line is serviced in two sections. The front section connects between the A/C condenser and the receiver/drier. The rear section connects between the receiver/drier and the A/C expansion valve. On models equipped with the rear heating-A/C system, the rear section of the A/C liquid line also includes an extension tube that connects the liquid line to the underbody lines.

FRONT SECTION





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Recovery.
3. Remove the air cleaner housing and inlet duct from the engine compartment.
4. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line (2) to the A/C receiver/drier (3).
5. Disconnect the front section of the A/C liquid line from the A/C receiver/drier and remove and discard the O-ring seal.





6. Remove the nut (1) that secures the front section of the A/C liquid line (3) to the condenser tapping block (2) located in the right front corner of the engine compartment.
7. Disconnect the front section of the A/C liquid line from the A/C condenser and remove and discard the O-ring seals and gasket.
8. Disengage the front section of the A/C liquid line from the retaining clip located near the right frame rail and remove the liquid line from the engine compartment.
9. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and the condenser and receiver/drier ports.

REAR SECTION





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Recovery.
3. On models equipped with the rear heating-A/C system, disconnect the A/C liquid line from the underbody liquid line A/C Underbody Lines - Removal.
4. Remove the air cleaner housing and inlet duct from the engine compartment.
5. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the A/C pressure transducer (2) located on the fitting on the rear section of the A/C liquid line (3) at top of the A/C receiver/drier (4).
6. Remove the A/C pressure transducer from the rear section of the A/C liquid line and remove and discard the O-ring seal.
7. Remove the bolt (5) that secures the rear section of the A/C liquid line to the A/C receiver/drier
8. Disconnect the rear section of the A/C liquid line from the A/C receiver/drier and remove and discard the O-ring seal.





9. Remove the nut (3) that secures the A/C suction line (1) and the A/C liquid line (5) to the A/C expansion valve (2).
10. Disconnect the A/C suction and liquid lines from the A/C expansion valve and remove and discard the washer seals.
11. Separate the rear section of the A/C liquid line from the tapping block (4) of the A/C suction line.
12. Disengage the rear section of the A/C liquid line from the retaining brackets located near the center of the dash panel and at the rear of the receiver/drier and remove the liquid line from the engine compartment.
13. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and the expansion valve and receiver/drier ports.
