Rear Brake Whirring or Wind Down Sound During Light Braking
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves refinishing the rear rotors with an approved on-car brake lathe.
MODELS:
2009 (RI) Town & Country/Grand Caravan
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built between March 30, 2009 and June 15, 2009 (MDH0330XX > MDH0615XX) with Disc Brakes (sales code BRE/BRG/BR3/BR4)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may notice a wind down or whirring sound during light brake application. This may be noticed during braking from 40 to 20 MPH (64 to 32 KPH) on vehicles with low mileage (less than 3000 miles (4800 kilometers). The sound described is due to an incorrect microfinish on the rear rotors and as mileage is accumulated, the sound will go away on its own.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a vehicle is brought in for this sound and occurs within the parameters above, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Using an approved Professional Service Equipment (PSE) On-Car Brake Lathe, lightly resurface both rear rotors.
NOTE:
Follow all resurfacing directions and procedures associated with the equipment used.
POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
