B1C4A-1ST ROW PASSENGER RETRACTOR PRETENSIONER CIRCUIT SHORTED TOGETHER
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the resistance of the Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner circuits.
- Set Condition:
The ORC has detected low resistance between the Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner circuits.
1. VERIFY ACTIVE DTC
NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.
NOTE: The scan tool, SRS Airbag Load Tool 8443 and DVOM are required to perform the following test.
1. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1C4A-1ST ROW PASSENGER RETRACTOR PRETENSIONER CIRCUIT SHORTED TOGETHER DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. . Airbag System Intermittent Condition Test
2. CHECK FOR SHORTED PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTOR TENSIONER
WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the Passenger Seat Belt Tensioner connector.
NOTE: Check the connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
2. Connect the SRS Load Tool Kit 8443 and SRS Load Tool Jumper 8443-4 to the Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner connector.
WARNING: Turn the ignition on then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
3. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
Does the scan tool display B1C4A-1ST ROW PASSENGER RETRACTOR PRETENSIONER CIRCUIT SHORTED TOGETHER DTC?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.
3. CHECK (R506) PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTOR TENSIONER LINE 1 CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO (R504) PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTOR TENSIONER LINE 2 CIRCUIT
WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the SRS Load Tool Kit 8443 and Jumper from the Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner connector.
2. Disconnect the ORC connectors.
NOTE: Check the connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
3. Connect the SRS Load Tool Adapter 8443-32-R to the ORC connectors.
NOTE: The IP Harness is always connected to the right side (C1) of the 8443-32-R Adapter.
4. Measure the resistance between the (R506) Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner Line 1 circuit cavity B and the (R504) Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner Line 2 circuit cavity A at the Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner connector.
Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (R506) Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner Line 1 circuit for a short to the (R504) Passenger Seat Belt Retractor Tensioner Line 2 circuit.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.
No
- WARNING: If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the ORC.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.
