THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION IS THE PREFERRED METHOD FOR FLASHING ECUs.

HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.

THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 10.01 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

NOTE:
StarMOBILE DESKTOP CLIENT, MAY ALSO BE USED TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

NOTE:
StarSCAN, MAY ALSO BE USED ON THE 2008 AND 2009 VEHICLES LISTED BELOW TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

SUBJECT:
Flash: TIPM Upgrade For Difficulty Flashing The Powertrain Control Module

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves flashing the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) with new software.

MODELS:

2009 (DS) Ram Truck (1500)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Technicians may have difficulty flashing updated software for the Powertrain Controller.

New software will fix the gating issues in the TIPM and allow engine controller to be flashed.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wi-Tech) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available on TechConnect, verify all Systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. Check the part number in the TIPM PN:04692123AE, with software version 11.14.00 should be in the module. If the technician experiences the Symptom/Condition perform the Repair Procedure. When completed the part number should read 046921 23AG with software version 11.17.00.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

1. Using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing an TIPM is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, then "HELP CONTENTS. This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen were help topics can now selected.

2. After reprogramming clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to the reprogramming. The wiTech application will automatically present all DTC's after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.
