Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) Cabin Heater - Removal






REMOVAL

WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.
3. Remove the steering column opening cover from the instrument panel Steering Column Opening Cover - Removal.
4. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel Instrument Panel Bezel - Removal.
5. Remove the center footwell cover from the instrument panel Instrument Panel Center Footwell Trim Panel - Removal.
6. If equipped, remove the tachograph from the instrument panel.
7. Remove the gear selector cover from the instrument panel Instrument Panel Center Footwell Trim Panel - Removal.
8. Remove the nuts (4 and 8) and disconnect the positive lead (6), ground lead (7) and control circuit connector (5) from the positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater unit (1).
9. Remove the two screws (3 and 9) and remove the PTC heater unit from the air distribution housing (2) by pulling it straight out of the housing.
