Removal

REMOVAL





1. With vehicle in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove the skid plate, if equipped.
3. Remove skid plate support crossmember, if necessary.
4. Remove hub/bearing (1) wheel speed sensor (2) and dust shield (5) from knuckles (4).
5. Remove both half shafts.
6. Mark the propeller shaft, transfer case, and pinion companion flange for installation reference.
7. Remove the front propeller shaft.
8. Remove the axle vent tube.





9. Position and secure a jack under differential housing.
10. Remove bolts (1) from the axle tube (2).





11. Remove bolts (1) from axle differential housing (2).





12. Remove bolts from axle (2) pinion nose bracket (1).
13. Lower jack and remove axle from vehicle.
