Service Procedure
1. Open the hood.2. Remove the air filter housing from the vehicle to gain access to the high pressure discharge port (Figure 1).
3. Using a refrigerant recovery machine, remove the refrigerant from the A/C system.
NOTE:
Follow the A/C recovery machine manufacturer's refrigerant recovery instructions. Also, note how much oil was removed during evacuation.
4. Remove the nut that secures the A/C discharge hose to the condenser tapping block located on the condenser (Figure 2).
5. Disconnect the A/C discharge hose from the A/C condenser.
6. Remove the nut that secures the A/C discharge hose to the A/C compressor (Figure 3).
7. Disconnect the A/C discharge hose from the A/C compressor.
8. Remove and discard the A/C discharge hose from the engine compartment.
9. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them and new gaskets onto the discharge hose fittings.
NOTE:
Use only refrigerant oil recommended for the A/C system (Mopar R-134a Compressor Oil PAG Type P/N 82300102).
10. Position the new A/C discharge hose into the engine compartment.
11. Connect the A/C discharge hose to the A/C compressor (Figure 3).
12. Install the nut that secures the A/C discharge hose to the A/C compressor.
Tighten the nut to 17 ft. lbs. (23 N.m).
13. Connect the A/C discharge hose to the condenser tapping block (Figure 2)
14. Install the nut that secures the A/C discharge hose to the A/C condenser.
Tighten the nut to 17 ft. lbs. (23 N.m).
15. Using a refrigerant recovery machine, evacuate the refrigerant system.
16. Using a refrigerant recovery machine, add oil to system if required and charge the refrigerant system.
NOTE:
Refer to the under hood A/C label to determine the proper amount of refrigerant for the A/C system.
17. Install the air filter housing onto the vehicle.
