Valve Body - Removal

3.8L ENGINE

1. Remove the battery tray. Battery Tray - Removal




2. If equipped remove the relay (1) at the core support.

3. Drain the radiator Service and Repair.




4. Remove clamps (1) at the upper radiator hose (2).
5. Remove the upper radiator hose (2).

6. Remove exhaust crossover pipe. Exhaust Crossover Pipe - Removal
7. Remove coolant recovery bottle. Coolant Recovery Bottle - Removal









8. Disconnect oil cooler lines (1) from transaxle using Trans Cooler Line Disconnect 8875A. Procedures
9. Position oil cooler lines aside away from the valve body pan.





10. Remove shift cable (1) from manual lever (2).





11. Remove the solenoid pack connector (2) at valve body oil pan (1).





12. If equipped remove the fasteners (1) and the Front Sound Damper Cover (2).





13. Remove the top valve body oil pan (3) bolts.





14. Turn the wheel fully to the left.
15. If equipped remove the bolt (2) at the ground cable (3).
16. If equipped remove the clip (1) at the valve body pan.
17. Move cable away from the valve body pan.





18. Remove the lower valve body oil pan bolts (2) and drain transmission fluid.
19. Remove the valve body oil pan.





20. Remove the electrical connector (1) at the valve body (2).





21. Remove screw at detente arm (2).
22. Remove detente arm (1).





23. Remove the twenty one valve body to case bolts (1).





24. Insure the manual lever is fully forward to keep the manual valve pin (3) from binding.
25. Pull the valve body away from the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes (2) and lift up on valve body to clear the manual valve pin past the slot in the rooster comb.
