B1E95-RIGHT FOLDING SEAT NOT LATCHED

- When Monitored:
During Normal or Fold activation.

- Set Condition:
If the Folding Seat Module does not detect after one second that the latch switches are closed after the seat reaches it's Normal position, this DTC will set.

1. INSPECT SEAT MECHANICAL OPERATION

WARNING: To avoid bodily injury while the folding seat is in operation, keep clear of the seat leg latch striker pocket as the seat leg reaches it's fully latched position.

1. Gain access to and:
- Check for object or obstruction in seat latch striker pocket or seat leg for a binding condition.
- Check seat leg latch mechanical operation by manually closing and releasing each latch and note any sticking, wear or damage.
- Inspect each seat leg latch micro switch for proper mechanical operation.
- Inspect for broken seat welds.
- Inspect for broken frame.
- Manually operate the latch release actuator and check for any binding in the latch release cable system.

Were any problems found?

No

- Go To 2

Yes

- Repair or replace component as necessary.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.

2. CHECK FOR DTCs
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase all DTCs.
3. Operate the Folding Seat Switch several times.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for an intermittent condition.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.

3. CHECK THE LATCH SWITCH FUNCTION

1. Disconnect the C391 Power Folding Rear Seat 16 way in-line harness connector.
2. Manually latch the seat.
3. Measure the resistance between the (P920) Right Seat Latch Switch Sense circuit and the (P921) Seat Latch Switch Return circuit at 16 way in-line harness connector

NOTE: With the seat in the latched position the circuit should have continuity.

Is the resistance of the seat latch circuit below 1.0 Ohm?

Yes

- Go To 5

No

- Go To 4

4. CHECK EACH LATCH SWITCH
1. Disconnect both Right Power Rear Folding Seat Latch Switch connectors.
2. Measure the resistance of each switch. With the latch in the unlatched position the switch should measure open and in the latched position the switch should measure closed.

Do the latch switches operate correctly?

Yes

- Repair the (P920) Right Seat Latch Switch Sense or the (P921) Seat Latch Switch Return for an open circuit.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Seat Latch Switch as necessary.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.

5. CHECK THE (P920) RIGHT SEAT LATCH SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Disconnect the Folding Seat Module C1 harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the (P920) Right Seat Latch Switch Sense circuit between the Folding Seat Module C1 connector and the 16 way in-line connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Go To 6

No

- Repair the (P920) Right Seat Latch Switch Sense circuit for an open.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.

6. CHECK THE (P921) SEAT LATCH SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure the resistance of the (P921) Seat Latch Switch Return circuit at the Folding Seat Module C1 connector to the 16 way in-line connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Folding Seat Module.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (P921) Seat Latch Switch Return circuit for an open.
- Perform POWER FOLDING SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Power Folding Seat System Verification Test.
