Valve Body - Installation

INSTALLATION

1. Install a NEW 2/4 clutch oil seal (1).

2. If needed install new O-rings (1) on the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes (2).

3. Insure the manual lever is fully forward to keep the manual valve pin (3) from binding.
4. Set the manual valve pin (3) into the slot in the rooster comb.
5. Set the valve body into the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes (2) and press the valve body into place.

NOTE: Valve body to case bolt torque is critical during the installation valve body. Failure to torque bolts could result in the improper valve operation.

6. Install the twenty one valve body to case bolts and tighten to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.).

7. Install the detente arm (1) onto the pin at the valve body.
8. Install the screw (3) at the detente arm and tighten to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.).

9. Install the electrical connector (1) at the valve body.

10. Install the valve body oil pan, use a bead of MOPAR(R) ATF RTV (MS-GF41).
11. Install the upper valve body oil pan bolts (3) and tighten to 12 Nm (105in. lbs.).
12. Install the lower valve body oil pan bolts (2) and tighten to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.).

13. If equipped install the Front Sound Damper Cover (2) and the fasteners (1).

14. If equipped install the front lower closeout.
15. Install the push pins (1) to the front lower closeout.

16. Install the solenoid pack connector (2) at valve body oil pan.

17. Install shift cable (1) to manual lever (2).

18. Install lower radiator hose and clamps.

19. Connect oil cooler lines to transaxle. An audible 'click' should be heard. Verify connection by pulling outward, Service and Repair.

20. Install windshield washer reservoir, Windshield Washer Reservoir - Installation.
21. Install air cleaner body, Air Cleaner Body - Installation.

22. Install the negative battery cable (2) remote terminal to the remote battery post (1).

23. Fill the cooling system, Service and Repair.
24. Fill transmission and road test, Service and Repair.
