Power Transfer Unit - Removal

REMOVAL





1. Remove the rear transmission bracket to transmission bolts (2).
2. Remove the rear transmission bracket (1).
3. Remove crossmember Crossmember - Removal.
4. Remove right halfshaft assembly. Half Shaft - Removal
5. Remove the exhaust and rear maniverter from engine Catalytic Converter - Removal.
6. Remove propeller shaft assembly. Propeller Shaft - Removal.





7. If equipped release the breather hose clamp (4) and reposition the breather hose (5) out of the way.
8. Remove the PTU-to-transaxle mount bracket upper bolts (1) and heat shield mounting clips (2).
9. Remove the heat shield (3).





10. Remove the lower heat shield bolt (2) and remove the heat shield (1).





11. Remove PTU-to-bracket lower bolts (2).
12. Roll engine and transmission forward.
13. Remove PTU (1) from vehicle.
