Hinge - Installation

INSTALLATION






NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the liftgate to replace one or both hinges. The hinges can be replaced one at a time.

NOTE: Use a suitable body sealer on the hinge to body mating surfaces prior to installation.

1. Position the liftgate hinge (2) to the upper liftgate opening header (4) on the vehicle.
2. Carefully pull the upper edge of the side panels downward from the header far enough to install and tighten the nut (3) to 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
3. Position the liftgate to the liftgate half of the hinge (1) on the vehicle.
4. Install and tighten the two fasteners (1) that secure the hinge to the liftgate.
5. Tighten the fasteners to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the support struts.
7. Remove the support from the liftgate.





8. Install the spoiler to the liftgate,Spoiler - Installation.
9. Check the liftgate for proper alignment and operation.
10. Check for water leaks at hinge to body screws.





11. Install the rear header trim panel. Rear Header Panel - Installation
12. Check liftgate and liftgate glass alignment and operation. Adjust as needed.
