A/C Underbody Lines - Removal
REMOVAL
WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and cautions for this system before performing the following operation Warning and Caution . Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Recovery.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the two nuts (6 and 7) that secure the underbody refrigerant lines (5 and 9) to the upper A/C suction and liquid lines (4 and 10).
5. Disconnect the underbody refrigerant lines and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
6. If servicing the upper A/C suction and liquid lines, remove the two nuts (1 and 2) that secure the upper lines to the bracket (3) located on the dash panel.
7. Partially drain the engine cooling system Service and Repair.
8. Disconnect the heater hoses from the underbody heater lines (8).
9. Remove the muffler, resonator and tail pipe assembly Removal.
10. Support the fuel tank and remove the two right side fuel tank straps Fuel Tank - Removal.
11. Remove the right rear caliper and position it out of the way Disc Brake Caliper - Removal.
12. Remove the right rear shock absorber from the lower control arm.
13. Support and partially lower the right side of the rear body cradle Crossmember - Removal.
14. Remove the nut (1) that secures the underbody refrigerant lines (3) to the rear A/C expansion valve (2).
15. Disconnect the rear underbody refrigerant lines from the rear A/C expansion valve and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
16. Install plugs in, or tape over, all the opened refrigerant line fittings and rear expansion valve ports.
17. Disengage the hose clamps (5) that secure the heater hoses (4) to the rear heater core tubes.
18. Carefully disconnect the heater hoses from the rear heater core tubes.
NOTE: Illustration shown with rear axle and cradle removed for clarity.
19. Remove the heat shields as required from the vehicle underbody.
20. Disengage the five mounting brackets (2 and 4) that secure the underbody line assembly (1) to the five studs (3) located on the vehicle underbody.
21. Route the underbody line assembly over the rear axle and cradle and remove the line assembly from the vehicle.
