Heated Steering Wheel Switch - Operation

OPERATION

The heated steering wheel switch allows the driver to turn on and off the heated steering wheel. The heated steering wheel will remain off until the driver presses the switch. Once the switch is pressed the Light Emitting Diode (LED) on the face of the switch will illuminate, indicating that the heating element in the steering wheel is operating. Pressing the switch while the heated steering wheel is on, will turn the heating steering wheel and the LED on the switch off.

The heated steering wheel switch also functions as a visual indicator for a fault with the heated steering wheel system. When the heated steering wheel switch is pressed and a fault is present in the heated steering wheel system, the LED on the switch will illuminate for two seconds and then immediately turn off.

The heated steering wheel switch is diagnosed using a scan tool Testing and Inspection.

The heated steering wheel switch cannot be adjusted or repaired and the entire instrument panel switch pod must be replaced if inoperative or damaged.
