B22A6-00-ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION MODULE (EPPM) INTERNAL 1

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) performs an internal self test. The repair of this fault condition does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying the integrity of the module's internal circuitry and software validity.

- When Monitored:
The EPPM checks the status and validity of the internal operating hardware and software at power up during the initialization process, and continuously through the ignition cycle.

- Set Condition:
This DTC sets when a fault is detected internal to EPPM hardware and/or software. Once set, this DTC is latched for the entire power cycle. If the same failure is detected in two consecutive power cycles, this DTC is latched active indefinitely.

Always Perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. . EPPM System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure
REPLACE ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION MODULE (EPPM)
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, erase and read EPPM DTCs.

WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

WARNING: If the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental actuator deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
